Melamchi Water Supply Project
The Melamchi Water Supply Project is an initiative in Nepal aimed at providing a reliable water supply to the capital city, Kathmandu. The project involves diverting water from the Melamchi River in the Sindhupalchowk district to address the chronic water shortage faced by residents.
The project was initiated in the early 2000s and has faced various challenges, including delays and funding issues. Once completed, it is expected to supply around 170 million liters of water daily, significantly improving the living conditions for the people of Kathmandu and surrounding areas.
