Mediterranean Gecko
The Mediterranean Gecko, scientifically known as Hemidactylus turcicus, is a small lizard commonly found in southern Europe, North Africa, and parts of the Middle East. It typically measures about 4 to 6 inches in length and has a distinctive, flattened body with a broad head. Its skin is usually light brown or gray, often featuring darker spots or patterns that help it blend into its surroundings.
These geckos are primarily nocturnal, meaning they are most active at night. They are known for their ability to climb smooth surfaces due to their specialized toe pads. The Mediterranean Gecko feeds on insects and other small invertebrates, making it an important part of the ecosystem by helping control pest populations.
