Hemidactylus turcicus
Hemidactylus turcicus, commonly known as the Mediterranean house gecko, is a small lizard native to southern Europe, North Africa, and parts of the Middle East. It typically measures between 7 to 15 centimeters in length and is characterized by its smooth, grayish-brown skin with darker spots, which helps it blend into its surroundings.
This gecko is primarily nocturnal and is often found in urban areas, where it inhabits buildings and walls. Hemidactylus turcicus feeds on insects and other small invertebrates, making it beneficial for controlling pest populations. Its ability to thrive in human-altered environments has contributed to its widespread distribution.
