Medical Masks
Medical masks are protective devices worn over the nose and mouth to help prevent the spread of infections. They are commonly used in healthcare settings, such as hospitals and clinics, to protect both patients and healthcare workers from airborne pathogens. These masks can filter out large respiratory droplets and some smaller particles, reducing the risk of transmission of diseases like COVID-19.
There are different types of medical masks, including surgical masks and N95 respirators. Surgical masks are loose-fitting and primarily protect against large droplets, while N95 respirators provide a tighter fit and filter out at least 95% of airborne particles. Proper use and disposal of these masks are essential for their effectiveness.
