Mealybugs
Mealybugs are small, soft-bodied insects that belong to the family Pseudococcidae. They are typically covered in a white, waxy substance, which gives them a cotton-like appearance. These pests are commonly found on houseplants and garden plants, where they feed on plant sap, leading to weakened plants and potential damage.
Mealybugs reproduce quickly, and their populations can grow rapidly if not controlled. They often cluster in hidden areas, such as leaf axils and under leaves. Effective management includes regular monitoring, introducing natural predators like ladybugs, and using insecticidal soaps or oils to reduce their numbers.
