Maximum-Security Facilities
Maximum-security facilities are prisons designed to house the most dangerous and high-risk inmates. These facilities have strict security measures, including high walls, surveillance cameras, and armed guards, to prevent escapes and maintain order. Inmates in these facilities often have limited access to the outside world and are kept in solitary confinement or in secure units.
The primary goal of maximum-security facilities is to protect society from violent offenders while ensuring the safety of staff and other inmates. Programs for rehabilitation may be limited, focusing instead on containment and control. Examples of such facilities include Supermax prisons and high-security prisons.
