Matthew Boulton (1728-1809) was an English manufacturer and businessman known for his role in the Industrial Revolution. He co-founded the Boulton and Watt company with engineer James Watt, which produced steam engines that significantly advanced industrial machinery and transportation.
Boulton was also a prominent figure in the development of the coinage system in Britain. He established the Soho Mint in Birmingham, where he produced high-quality coins and medals. His contributions to manufacturing and engineering helped lay the groundwork for modern industry.
