Maryam Mirzakhani
Maryam Mirzakhani was an Iranian mathematician known for her groundbreaking work in the fields of geometry and dynamical systems. Born on May 3, 1977, in Tehran, she became the first woman to win the prestigious Fields Medal in 2014, which is often regarded as the Nobel Prize of mathematics. Her research focused on the behavior of curved surfaces and their properties.
Mirzakhani earned her bachelor's degree in mathematics from Sharif University of Technology in Iran and later completed her Ph.D. at Harvard University. Throughout her career, she held a position at Stanford University, where she continued to inspire many with her contributions to mathematics until her untimely passing in 2017.
