Mary and Martha
Mary and Martha are two sisters mentioned in the New Testament of the Bible, specifically in the Gospel of Luke and the Gospel of John. They are known for their close relationship with Jesus, who visited their home in Bethany.
In the story from Luke 10:38-42, Martha is busy preparing food and serving, while Mary sits at Jesus' feet, listening to his teachings. Martha expresses frustration, but Jesus tells her that Mary has chosen the better part. In John 11, their brother, Lazarus, falls ill and dies, leading to a significant encounter with Jesus, who raises Lazarus from the dead.
