Martand Sun Temple
The Martand Sun Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Built in the 8th century during the reign of Lalitaditya Muktapida, it is dedicated to the sun god, Surya. The temple showcases exquisite Kashmiri architecture and features intricate carvings and a large courtyard.
Despite its historical significance, the temple was largely destroyed in the 14th century, likely due to the spread of Islam in the region. Today, the ruins of the temple remain a popular tourist attraction, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir and its ancient traditions.
