Maronite Patriarchs
The Maronite Patriarchs are the spiritual leaders of the Maronite Church, an Eastern Catholic church that follows the Antiochene Rite. This church is primarily based in Lebanon and has a rich history dating back to the early Christian era. The Patriarchs are responsible for guiding the church, overseeing its administration, and maintaining its traditions.
The title of Maronite Patriarch has been held since the 7th century, with the Patriarch of Antioch being the highest-ranking bishop. The current Patriarch, as of 2023, is Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, who was elected in 2011. The Patriarchs play a crucial role in promoting the Maronite faith and fostering unity among its followers.
