Marjorie Merriweather Post
Marjorie Merriweather Post (1887-1973) was an American socialite and businesswoman known for her significant contributions to the food industry. She was the daughter of C.W. Post, the founder of the Postum Cereal Company, which later became part of the General Foods Corporation. Marjorie took over the company after her father's death and expanded its product line, making it a major player in the food market.
In addition to her business acumen, Post was a prominent philanthropist and art collector. She played a key role in the establishment of the Hillwood Estate, a museum and garden in Washington, D.C., showcasing her extensive collection of Russian and French decorative arts.
