Marine Corps Recruit Depot
The Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) is a training facility for new recruits of the United States Marine Corps. Located in San Diego, California, it is one of two main recruit depots in the country, the other being in Parris Island, South Carolina. MCRD is responsible for transforming civilians into Marines through rigorous physical training, discipline, and education about military values.
During their time at MCRD, recruits undergo a 13-week training program known as boot camp. This program includes physical fitness training, marksmanship, and instruction on military customs and courtesies. Successful completion of boot camp prepares recruits for their future roles as Marines, instilling teamwork and leadership skills essential for military service.
