Marie-Adélaïde, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg
Marie-Adélaïde was born on June 14, 1894, in Luxembourg City. She became the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg in 1912 after the abdication of her father, Grand Duke William IV. Her reign was marked by the challenges of World War I, during which she worked to support her people and maintain their morale.
Despite her efforts, Marie-Adélaïde faced criticism for her perceived pro-German stance during the war. In 1919, she abdicated in favor of her sister, Charlotte, and went into exile. She spent her later years in Germany and Switzerland, passing away on January 24, 1924.
