Marie de Medici
Marie de Medici was an Italian noblewoman born on April 26, 1573, in Florence, Italy. She was the daughter of Francesco I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, and Joanna of Austria. In 1600, she married Henry IV of France, becoming the Queen Consort of France.
After her husband's assassination in 1610, Marie served as regent for her son, Louis XIII. Her reign was marked by political challenges and conflicts, but she also supported the arts and commissioned the famous Palais du Luxembourg in Paris. Marie de Medici died on July 3, 1642, in Cologne, Germany.
