Mariana of Austria
Mariana of Austria was a Spanish princess born on December 20, 1634. She was the daughter of Ferdinand III, Holy Roman Emperor and Maria Anna of Spain. In 1650, she married Philip IV of Spain, becoming the Queen consort of Spain. Her marriage was part of a political alliance between the Spanish and Austrian Habsburgs.
Mariana played a significant role in the Spanish court and was known for her influence during her husband's reign. After Philip IV's death in 1665, she served as regent for her son, Charles II of Spain, until he reached adulthood. Mariana passed away on May 16, 1696.
