Maria Anna of Neuburg
Maria Anna of Neuburg was a German princess born on August 28, 1660. She was the daughter of Philip William, Elector of the Palatinate and Maria Anna of Savoy. In 1680, she became the Queen consort of King Charles II of Spain, marrying him to strengthen political ties between their families.
As queen, Maria Anna played a significant role in the Spanish court, particularly during a time of political instability. She was known for her intelligence and strong character. After Charles II's death in 1700, she returned to her homeland, where she lived until her death on May 16, 1740.
