Marguerite Of Provence
Marguerite of Provence was a 13th-century queen consort of France, born around 1221. She was the daughter of Raymond Berengar IV of Provence and Beatrice of Savoy. Marguerite married Louis IX of France in 1234, strengthening ties between the French crown and the Provence region.
As queen, Marguerite played a significant role in the political landscape of her time. She was known for her piety and charitable works, often supporting religious institutions. Marguerite and Louis IX had eleven children, including Philip III of France, who succeeded his father as king.
