Mar Roxas is a Filipino politician and member of the Liberal Party. He served as a senator from 2004 to 2010 and held various cabinet positions, including Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communications and Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government. Roxas is known for his work in promoting good governance and transparency in the Philippines. Born on May 13, 1957, Mar Roxas comes from a prominent political family. He is the son of former Senator Gerardo Roxas and the grandson of President Manuel Roxas, the first president of the independent Third Republic of the Philippines. Roxas ran for president in the 2016 elections but lost to Rodrigo Duterte.
