Maple sugar
Maple sugar is a natural sweetener made from the sap of sugar maple trees. The sap is collected in early spring when temperatures rise above freezing during the day and drop below freezing at night. It is then boiled down to remove excess water, resulting in a concentrated sugar product.
This sweetener has a distinct flavor and is often used in baking, cooking, and as a topping for pancakes and waffles. Maple sugar is considered a healthier alternative to refined sugars, as it contains some minerals and antioxidants, although it should still be consumed in moderation.
