Manor System
The Manor System was a key element of the feudal system in medieval Europe, where the lord of a manor held land and provided protection to the peasants living on it. In exchange for land use, peasants, or serfs, worked the fields and paid rent, often in the form of crops or labor. This system created a self-sufficient community, with the manor serving as the center of agricultural production.
Manors typically included a village, farmland, and the lord's estate. The lord had legal authority over the manor and its inhabitants, while peasants had limited rights. The Manor System helped maintain social order and economic stability during a time when centralized government was weak.
