Manduca sexta
Manduca sexta, commonly known as the tobacco hornworm, is a large caterpillar that primarily feeds on plants in the Solanaceae family, such as tobacco and tomatoes. This species is known for its distinctive green color and a prominent horn-like structure on its rear end.
As it matures, Manduca sexta undergoes metamorphosis, transforming into a striking moth with a wingspan of about 10 to 12 centimeters. The adult moth is often grayish-brown with white and yellow markings, making it an important pollinator for various plants while also serving as a food source for birds and other predators.
