Mandibular Incisors
Mandibular incisors are the front teeth located in the lower jaw, or mandible. They consist of four teeth: two central incisors and two lateral incisors. These teeth are primarily used for cutting and shearing food due to their sharp edges. They typically have a single root and a flat, thin shape.
The mandibular incisors are smaller than their upper counterparts, known as maxillary incisors. They usually erupt between the ages of 6 and 8 years. Proper alignment and health of these teeth are essential for effective biting and overall oral function.
