Mamata Banerjee is an Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of West Bengal. She is the founder of the Trinamool Congress party, which she established in 1998. Known for her grassroots approach, she has focused on social welfare programs and infrastructure development in the state.
Born on January 5, 1955, in Kolkata, Mamata began her political career in the Indian National Congress before forming her own party. She became the first woman to hold the office of Chief Minister in West Bengal in 2011, winning re-election in 2016 and 2021.
