Mallard
The Mallard is a common species of wild duck found in many parts of the world. It is easily recognizable by its vibrant green head, white neck ring, and chestnut-brown breast in males, while females are mottled brown for camouflage. Mallards are often seen in parks, ponds, and wetlands, where they feed on aquatic plants, insects, and small fish.
These ducks are known for their distinctive quacking sound, especially the females. Mallards are also the ancestors of most domestic duck breeds, making them significant in both wildlife and agriculture. They are migratory birds, traveling long distances between breeding and wintering grounds.
