Malaysian Indigenous Peoples
Malaysian Indigenous Peoples, also known as the Orang Asli, are the original inhabitants of Peninsular Malaysia. They comprise various ethnic groups, each with its own unique culture, language, and traditions. The Orang Asli primarily live in rural areas and rely on traditional practices such as hunting, gathering, and agriculture for their livelihoods.
In East Malaysia, the indigenous communities include the Iban, Kadazan-Dusun, and Bajau, among others. These groups have rich cultural heritages, often expressed through traditional music, dance, and crafts. Despite their diverse backgrounds, Malaysian Indigenous Peoples face challenges such as land rights issues and the impact of modernization on their way of life.
