Makli Necropolis
Makli Necropolis is a vast burial site located near the city of Thatta in Sindh, Pakistan. It spans over 10 square kilometers and contains the tombs of various rulers, saints, and notable figures from the Sufi tradition, dating back to the 14th century. The site is recognized for its intricate architecture and elaborate carvings, showcasing a blend of Islamic and local styles.
Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Makli is one of the largest necropolises in the world. It features thousands of tombs, including those of the Samma and Arghun dynasties. The site serves as a significant cultural and historical landmark, reflecting the rich heritage of the region.
