Makemake is a dwarf planet located in the outer region of our solar system, specifically in the Kuiper Belt. Discovered in 2005, it is named after the creator god of the Rapa Nui people of Easter Island. Makemake is known for its bright surface, which is primarily composed of frozen methane and other ices.
This celestial body is about two-thirds the size of Pluto and has a diameter of approximately 1,400 kilometers. Makemake takes about 305 years to complete one orbit around the Sun. It is also notable for having no known moons, making it unique among the larger dwarf planets.
