Majoritarian Systems
Majoritarian systems are electoral frameworks where the candidate or party that receives the most votes wins. This approach often leads to a single winner in each electoral district, which can simplify governance by creating a clear majority. Common examples include the First-Past-the-Post system used in countries like the United States and United Kingdom.
These systems can encourage a two-party structure, as smaller parties may struggle to gain representation. While majoritarian systems can lead to stable governments, they may also marginalize minority voices, as the focus is primarily on the majority's preferences in decision-making processes.
