Major General William S. Rosecrans
Major General William S. Rosecrans was a Union general during the American Civil War. Born on September 6, 1819, in Delaware, New Jersey, he graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1842. Rosecrans played a significant role in several key battles, including the Battle of Stones River and the Battle of Chattanooga, where his leadership contributed to Union victories.
After the war, Rosecrans served in various roles, including as a U.S. Congressman from California. He was also involved in civil engineering and worked on projects such as the construction of railroads. Rosecrans passed away on March 11, 1898, in San Francisco, California.
