Maine Lighthouses
Maine is home to over 60 lighthouses, many of which are iconic symbols of the state's rugged coastline. These lighthouses were built to guide ships safely through rocky waters and are often located on picturesque cliffs or islands. Some of the most famous include Portland Head Light, Cape Neddick Nubble Light, and Pemaquid Point Light.
Most of Maine's lighthouses are still operational and are maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard or local organizations. Many are open to the public, allowing visitors to explore their history and enjoy stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. These structures are not only functional but also serve as popular tourist attractions.
