Magicicada
Magicicada is a genus of periodical cicadas known for their unique life cycle, which includes a long period of development underground. These insects typically spend 13 or 17 years as nymphs before emerging in large numbers to mate, lay eggs, and then die shortly after.
The emergence of Magicicada is synchronized, creating a spectacular display as millions of cicadas surface at once. This phenomenon occurs in specific regions of the United States, where they are often heard buzzing in the trees during the summer months. Their distinctive sound is produced by males to attract females.
