Madurai Nayak Kingdom
The Madurai Nayak Kingdom was a prominent South Indian dynasty that ruled from the 16th to the 18th centuries. It emerged after the decline of the Vijayanagara Empire and was centered in the city of Madurai. The Nayaks were known for their contributions to art, architecture, and culture, particularly in the construction of temples and palaces.
Under the leadership of rulers like Muthu Virappa Nayak and Tirumalai Nayak, the kingdom flourished and became a hub for trade and commerce. The Nayak kings promoted the Tamil language and literature, leaving a lasting impact on the region's cultural heritage.
