Madhava
Madhava was a prominent Indian mathematician and astronomer from the 14th century, known for his contributions to the development of calculus. He is often regarded as the founder of the Kerala School of Astronomy and Mathematics, which made significant advancements in mathematical analysis and infinite series. His work laid the groundwork for later mathematicians, influencing both Indian and global mathematics.
One of Madhava's key achievements was the approximation of π (pi) using infinite series, which was a groundbreaking concept at the time. He also explored trigonometric functions and their series expansions, contributing to the understanding of sine and cosine functions. His innovative ideas were ahead of his time and have had a lasting impact on mathematics.
