Macedonian Struggle
The Macedonian Struggle refers to a series of conflicts and political efforts in the late 19th and early 20th centuries aimed at establishing control over the region of Macedonia. This struggle primarily involved the Kingdom of Greece, the Kingdom of Serbia, and the Ottoman Empire, as each sought to assert their influence over the ethnically diverse population.
During this period, various nationalist movements emerged, with groups like the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO) advocating for autonomy or independence. The struggle culminated in the Balkan Wars (1912-1913), which significantly altered the territorial boundaries in the region and set the stage for future conflicts.
