Macedonian Revolution
The Macedonian Revolution refers to a series of uprisings and movements in the late 19th and early 20th centuries aimed at liberating the Macedonian region from Ottoman Empire control. The revolution was driven by various nationalist groups, including the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO), which sought to establish an independent Macedonian state.
The revolution gained momentum with the Ilinden Uprising in 1903, which aimed to establish autonomy for Macedonia. Although the uprising was ultimately suppressed, it highlighted the desire for independence and laid the groundwork for future conflicts in the region, contributing to the Balkan Wars and the eventual formation of the modern Macedonian state.
