MCL Tear
An MCL tear refers to an injury of the medial collateral ligament, which is located on the inner side of the knee. This ligament helps stabilize the knee joint and prevents excessive side-to-side movement. MCL tears can occur due to direct impact, such as during sports, or from twisting motions that strain the ligament.
Symptoms of an MCL tear may include pain, swelling, and difficulty bending or straightening the knee. Treatment often involves rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE), along with physical therapy to restore strength and flexibility. In severe cases, surgery may be necessary to repair the ligament.
