M-Type Asteroids
M-Type asteroids, or metallic asteroids, are primarily composed of metals such as iron and nickel. They are found mainly in the Asteroid Belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. These asteroids are believed to be remnants of the early solar system, representing the metallic cores of larger bodies that broke apart.
Due to their metallic composition, M-Type asteroids are of great interest for mining and resource extraction. They can contain valuable materials, including platinum and other rare metals. Understanding these asteroids can also provide insights into the formation and evolution of the solar system.
