Māori electoral roll
The Māori electoral roll is a special voting list in New Zealand designed for the Māori population. It allows eligible Māori voters to participate in elections and have their voices represented in the Parliament. This roll is separate from the general electoral roll, ensuring that Māori interests are specifically addressed.
Eligible voters can choose to register on the Māori electoral roll or the general roll. The Māori electoral roll is used for electing Māori representatives in Parliament, known as Māori MPs. This system helps ensure that Māori perspectives and issues are included in the political process.
