Möhne Dam
The Möhne Dam is a large dam located in the Sauerland region of Germany. Completed in 1921, it was built to provide water for industrial use and to control flooding. The dam is part of the Möhne Reservoir, which is a popular recreational area for activities like hiking and fishing.
The dam gained historical significance during World War II when it was targeted in the famous Dambusters Raid by the British Royal Air Force in 1943. The operation aimed to destroy key German infrastructure, and the attack caused significant damage to the dam and surrounding areas.
