Lyonia lucida
Lyonia lucida, commonly known as shiny lyonia, is a flowering plant in the family Ericaceae. It is native to the southeastern United States, particularly found in wetlands and sandy soils. This evergreen shrub can grow up to 3 meters tall and features glossy, dark green leaves that are lance-shaped.
The plant produces small, bell-shaped white to pink flowers that bloom in clusters during spring. These flowers are attractive to various pollinators, including bees. After flowering, Lyonia lucida develops small, round fruits that are typically not edible for humans but can provide food for wildlife.
