Lydian Language
The Lydian language is an ancient Indo-European language that was spoken in the region of Lydia, located in western Anatolia (modern-day Turkey). It is primarily known from inscriptions and coins dating back to the 7th century BCE. Lydian is part of the Anatolian languages group, which also includes languages like Hittite and Luwian.
Lydian is written in a script derived from the Phoenician alphabet, and its vocabulary and grammar show unique features distinct from other ancient languages. Although it is not widely understood today, scholars study Lydian to gain insights into the culture and history of the Lydian Kingdom and its interactions with neighboring civilizations.
