Lycaons
Lycaons, commonly known as African wild dogs, are social carnivores native to sub-Saharan Africa. They are known for their unique coat patterns, which feature patches of yellow, black, and white fur. These animals live in packs, typically consisting of 2 to 27 members, and are highly cooperative hunters, often targeting medium-sized ungulates.
These dogs are distinguished by their large, rounded ears and slender bodies, which help them regulate body temperature. Lycaons are endangered due to habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and diseases like rabies. Conservation efforts are underway to protect their populations and habitats across Africa.
