Luke 2:22-40
In Luke 2:22-40, Mary and Joseph take the baby Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord, following the Jewish law. They offer a pair of doves as a sacrifice, which is a sign of their humble means.
At the Temple, they meet Simeon, a righteous man who had been promised by the Holy Spirit that he would see the Messiah before his death. Upon seeing Jesus, Simeon praises God and prophesies about the child's future. They also encounter Anna, a prophetess, who recognizes Jesus and speaks about Him to all who were waiting for redemption.
