Luge Equipment
Luge equipment primarily consists of a small, aerodynamic sled designed for one or two athletes. The sled is made from lightweight materials like fiberglass and aluminum, allowing for high speeds on ice tracks. Athletes wear helmets and specialized suits to reduce drag and enhance safety during their runs.
In addition to the sled, luge athletes use gloves and shoes with a smooth sole for better control and grip. The sport requires precise body positioning and balance, as competitors navigate sharp turns and straightaways on a luge track, which is typically about 1,000 meters long.
