Louis-Joseph de Montcalm
Louis-Joseph de Montcalm was a French military leader known for his role during the French and Indian War in North America. Born on February 28, 1712, in Nîmes, France, he became a skilled soldier and was appointed as the commander of French forces in North America in 1756.
Montcalm is best remembered for his leadership during the pivotal Battle of Quebec in 1759, where he faced British forces led by General James Wolfe. Despite his initial successes, Montcalm's forces were ultimately defeated, leading to significant changes in the balance of power in North America. He died in battle on September 14, 1759.
