Louis of Battenberg
Louis of Battenberg was a British naval officer and a member of the British royal family, born on May 25, 1854, in Austria. He was the son of Prince Alexander of Battenberg and Countess Julia von Hauke. Louis served in the Royal Navy and held various important positions, including First Sea Lord from 1912 to 1914.
In 1917, during World War I, he changed his surname to Mountbatten to reflect his loyalty to Britain, as anti-German sentiment was high. Louis of Battenberg passed away on September 7, 1921, and is remembered for his contributions to the British military and royal family.
