Lotka's law
Lotka's law is a principle in bibliometrics that describes the frequency of publication by authors in a given field. It states that a small number of authors produce a large proportion of the total publications, while many authors contribute only a few. This creates a power-law distribution in the number of publications per author.
The law is often represented mathematically, showing that if the number of authors publishing n papers is proportional to 1/n^k , where k is typically around 2. This pattern highlights the concentration of research output among a few prolific authors in various disciplines.
