Lothair II
Lothair II was a king of the Franks who ruled from 855 to 869. He was the son of Lothair I and Ermengarde of Tours, and he inherited the central part of the Frankish Empire after the division of the empire among his brothers. His reign was marked by conflicts with his brothers, particularly over territorial disputes.
Lothair II is best known for his struggle to maintain control over his kingdom, which included parts of modern-day France, Germany, and Italy. He faced challenges from both internal factions and external threats, ultimately leading to his death in 869 without a clear successor, which further complicated the political landscape of the region.
