Loss of Balance
Loss of balance refers to a condition where an individual feels unsteady or unable to maintain their equilibrium. This can occur due to various factors, including inner ear issues, neurological disorders, or muscle weakness. It can lead to difficulty walking, standing, or performing daily activities, increasing the risk of falls.
Common causes of loss of balance include vestibular disorders, such as Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), and medications that affect coordination. Age-related changes in the body can also contribute to balance problems. Treatment may involve physical therapy, balance exercises, or addressing underlying medical conditions.
